Summer of Junior year

 FALL (August – November)
☐ Attend Freshman Experience and all onboarding events as an incoming freshman
☐ Stay connected: sign up for school texts and follow the main school Instagram page and College Corner
☐ Check your school email twice a day and listen to daily announcements
☐ Understand your Carroll graduation requirements and set personal goals:
 • 28 credits • 100 Christian Service Hours • Minimum 2.0 GPA • Pre ACT and SAT goals
☐ Attend the College & Career Readiness Meeting in September with your parent(s)
☐ Attend the College Fair in October (parents welcome)
☐ Begin practicing for the Pre-SAT in October by using Khan Academy, Bluebook, and other resources
☐ Take the Pre-SAT and review your scores when available 
 • Strong scores may help qualify you for upper level courses and Dual Enrollment opportunities
☐ Create or update your Naviance account and explore important sections ( About me, Colleges, Career Clusters, Quizzes & Surveys)
☐ Create a Raise.Me (micro-scholarship) account and begin adding achievements each semester
☐ Create a College Board account to monitor testing scores and connect it to Khan Academy for future SAT practice
☐ Keep your grades up! Your GPA starts now and will follow you throughout high school.
☐ Get involved! Focus on quality over quantity by exploring clubs, sports, activities, leadership opportunities, and service projects
☐ Begin logging Christian Service Hours in X2Vol through your Theology class (need 100 hours minimum to graduate)
 WINTER (December – February)
☐ Begin studying early for Midterm exams (Exams are the week before Christmas break)
☐ Avoid any “Holds” with your progress…maintain good attendance, avoid business holds, discipline or academic issues.
☐ Review first semester grades over break and create goals for improvement if needed for 2nd Semester
☐ If you did not pass a course, meet with your counselor immediately to register for credit recovery class through CAVA or FLVS
 • All credit recovery MUST be completed before entering sophomore year
☐ Naviance: Complete the Career Interest and Learning Style assessments and use the data to test prep
☐ Explore careers and majors through BigFuture and Naviance
☐ Continue building strong study habits and time management skills
☐ College visits: Attend our in-school college visits during lunch or after school when available to explore & ask questions
 SPRING (March – May)
☐ Continue preparing/studying for the Pre-ACT given mid-March
 • Strong scores can help qualify you for advanced courses like Dual Enrollment/college classes and academic recognition
☐ Update accomplishments in Naviance on your “Brag Sheet” and Raise.Me
☐ Update your Naviance resume regularly to keep track of activities and achievements
☐ Finalize 10th grade course selections when available ** Consider advanced science courses if interested in STEM pathways
☐ Continue logging and updating Christian Service Hours in X2Vol
☐ Use Naviance SuperMatch and BigFuture to explore colleges and careers
☐ Meet with your counselor if you need help reviewing next year’s course selections before you finalize
 SUMMER (June – August)
☐ Stay productive during the summer- these experiences will help build your resume for college applications later on so consider a 
• internships • camps • volunteering • helping family/ siblings • summer jobs 
☐ Participate in Carroll summer enrichment programs and build skills
☐ Complete all summer reading and assignments
☐ Read at least one challenging book for personal growth
☐ Visit a college campus or take a virtual college tour
☐ If taking Dual Enrolment classes at MDC, make sure to email final unofficial transcripts to your Counselor so we can add your new 
credits on your Carroll transcript.
☐ Log summer activities and achievements in RaiseMe and Naviance so you don’t forget
